Who's who?

  • Mrs Jane Watts

    HEADTEACHER (currently on maternity leave)

Alconbury School is my first headship role and what an amazingly special place to take on this exciting opportunity. Prior to headship, I was Deputy Head for nine years and over my 20 years of teaching I have enjoyed teaching both Key Stage 1 and 2 pupils. I always refer to Alconbury School as our “Alconbury family”. This family extends to include all of the staff, pupils, parents, governors and so many members of the wider community that all make valuable contributions to our school. Every day at Alconbury I learn something new from somebody and most often it is from our pupils.

  • Mrs Hannah Mulcrone

    HEADTEACHER (covering maternity leave)

I have now worked at Alconbury Primary for five years. It has been a pleasure to be part of the 'Alconbury Family' and to get to know all of our wonderful children, families and staff.
In the school I have taken on the role of acting headteacher while Mrs Watts is on maternity leave. My other roles are Maths and art subject leader. I am also the lead for safeguarding, so I am kept busy.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, swimming and spending time with my family.

  • Mrs Steph Clitheroe

    DEPUTY HEADTEACHER (for maternity cover)

I have taught at Alconbury School for a number of years now. I started at the covering PPA when my children were very young and soon had the pleasure of 'job sharing' with Mrs Watts in Year 2. I am now taking on the role of Deputy Headteacher and SENDCo. During my teaching career I have worked and lived in Hong Kong and have had many different roles. I am now part of a team responsible for leading English in the school. My teenage children keep me very busy but in any spare time I have I like to keep active. I enjoy running and walking with our dog and I am also a keen gardener.

  • Mr Charlie Hawkins

I am currently in my fourth year as a teacher at Alconbury Primary, teaching Yew Class in Year 6. My other roles within school include being the PE co-ordinator, and I am also now part of the Maths subject leadership team. I am extremely passionate about sport and have enjoyed running the tag-rugby, kwik cricket and girls' football clubs.

  • Mr Patrick Geary

This is my first year teaching at Alconbury Primary having previously taught in London and Huntingdon. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the school and community. I’ve taken on science leadership for the school and am excited about creating as many opportunities as possible for engaging learning. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family (and dog) as well as running and cycling.

  • Mrs Kathryn Day

This is my fourth year teaching in Year 4 at Alconbury; I have previously taught full-time at schools in Cambridgeshire and London, as well as supply teaching around Gloucestershire. I am responsible for leading Computing across the school; I also lead Music, and I particularly love being part of our weekly singing assemblies - what a joy to hear nearly 200 children's beautiful voices all singing together! This is my second year as part of the English subject leadership team, as well as the staff representative governor. In my spare time, I enjoy running, baking and reading.

  • Mrs Jill Suckling

This is my third year teaching year 3 at Alconbury Primary School and I love it! It's so rewarding watching my class gain confidence and become independent young people! In school I am responsible for geography and DT but I also like to help out at sporting competitions and events.

Outside of school I enjoy baking, keeping fit and being outdoors - exploring and having fun with my family.

I have been teaching at Alconbury for 14 years now. Whilst studying for my degree I specialised in Early Years and taught in Reception for 11 years. I then went on maternity leave to have my son and returned to teach in Year One 3 days a week. I lead PSHE and feel that a child’s personal, social and health education is an integral part of their schooling and future. I also set up and run Treetops alongside Mrs Read. Treetops is a group that offers social and emotional support for all children on a weekly basis.
In my spare time I love spending time with my son, family and two cats. Music is a big passion of mine and I love nothing more than attending live gigs. I also enjoy reading and have recently returned to playing netball in a local league.

I have been a teaching assistant at Alconbury School for many years. For the last few years I have worked predominantly in Key Stage 2. I recently introduced a fantastic reading scheme called CODE X which has been particularly successful in motivating some of our more reluctant readers. My 2 children attended Alconbury Primary School many years ago and one now comes back to teach drumming after school!
