Reception

Welcome to Elm Class

Welcome back! We hope that you all had an enjoyable Christmas and wish you all a happy and healthy new year. We have a very busy term planned and all the Foundation Staff are looking forward to seeing the continued progress of the children in Elm Class. Our topic this term will focus on “Getting about” (linked to transport) and “Around the world” (learning about different countries and cultures)

Please take a moment to read our Spring Newsletter and Curriculum overview

Book Bags -These should be sent into school every day. The diary and reading book need to be in school every day, even if you haven’t had a chance to look at it. This is because we will endeavour to hear children read at every opportunity, but at least once a week.

P.E   Children will need to ensure that they have a full PE kit in school every day.  Our PE days are Monday and Thursday.  Children will also have the opportunity for physical activity on a daily basis using the range of equipment available in our outside classroom.

P.E kits stay in school, but will be sent home at half term for washing. Please make sure that everything is named .

Children will be expected to have these things in school EVERY day:

  • named bottle of water – no juice please. (Please ensure bottles are not placed inside book bags as they have a tendency to leak!)
  • named coat
  • book bag with reading diary and book*
  • PE bag containing shorts, T-shirt,  jogging bottoms and a spare pair of pants and socks (This will be sent home at the end of each half term)

Making Playdough

WOW certificates – Please remember that ANY achievement can be celebrated and it really does help us to build up a better profile of your child. We have been really impressed with the number of “WOW’s” that have been sent in so far – Thank you! Keep them coming. If you run out of certificates they can be collected from the classroom, via your child, or are available to download from our class page.

We are learning all about Autumn and what changes we can see outside. Tthe children went on an Autumn walk, they collected leaves and seeds and observed the changes in the colour of the trees and leaves around the school.
