Welcome back to the Spring Term in Elm Class
This half term we will be "Getting out and about" in our topic work, exploring the local area of Alconbury, as well as discovering new countries around the world. We will look at different modes of transport and have an exciting "Transport Day" planned in the next few weeks.
We welcome Miss Amy Wilson who is doing her six week teaching placement with us. I know that she is looking forward to meeting all of you and working with your children.

We have been learning about the Chinese New Year. In PE  we learned a Dragon dance and made some lanterns in the classroom.

Elm Class had a lovely afternoon with their befrienders who came into class to share the books the had made for them

Children will be expected to have these things in school EVERY day:

  • named bottle of water – no juice please. (Please ensure bottles are not placed inside book bags as they have a tendency to leak!)
  • named coat
  • book bag with reading diary and book*
  • PE bag containing shorts, T-shirt,  jogging bottoms , and a spare pair of pants and socks (This will be sent home at the end of each half term)
P.E kits stay in school, but will be sent home at half term for washing. Please make sure that everything is named .

Our PE days are Monday and Thursday.  Children will also have the opportunity for physical activity on a daily basis using the range of equipment available in our outside classroom.

 * Book Bags -These should be sent into school every day. The diary and reading book need to be in school every day, even if you haven’t had a chance to look at it.

Each week a small group of children will be cooking in the community room .This was the first group and they were very excited to be making biscuits. They carefully measured out the ingredients and took turns in mixing ,rolling and cutting the dough. When the biscuits were cooked and cooled they took them home to share with their family .

WOW certificates – Please remember that ANY achievement can be celebrated and it really does help us to build up a better profile of your child. We have been really impressed with the number of “WOW’s” that have been sent in so far – Thank you! Keep them coming. If you run out of certificates they can be collected from the classroom, via your child, or are available to download from our class page.

We are learning all about Autumn and what changes we can see outside. Tthe children went on an Autumn walk, they collected leaves and seeds and observed the changes in the colour of the trees and leaves around the school.
